INTERNSHIP: Summer Construction Observation Technician

Location: Sioux Falls area

Employment Type: Internship (Full-time, Summer 2026)

Job Description:

Sayre Associates, Inc. is seeking motivated and dependable Construction Observation Interns to join our team for the Summer 2026 season. This is a great opportunity for students pursuing a degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, to gain hands-on experience in construction observation and inspection. 

​

Responsibilities:

• ​Assist with on-site construction observation for projects in Sioux Falls and the surrounding area

• Monitor contractor work for compliance with plans and specifications

• Document daily construction activities and progress

• Communicate observations with project engineers, clients, contractors and interested parties

• Use basic computer programs to record and report findings

• May include other duties as assigned (with survey crew or assisting with design)

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a civil engineering, construction management, or related program

• Strong interest in construction and working outdoors in various weather conditions

• Dependable transportation to and from job sites

• Willingness to work overtime, including occasional evenings or weekends

• Basic computer and communication skills

• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a team player
